About the Event

The Diavolezza Glacier Race invites skiers and snowboarders to tackle one of Switzerland's most thrilling glacier descents. Starting at the lofty altitude of 2,978 meters atop the Diavolezza mountain station, participants embark on an exhilarating eight-kilometer journey across two majestic glaciers: Pers and Morteratsch.
The race route offers breathtaking views as it winds past iconic ice giants like Piz Palü and Piz Bernina. Unlike conventional ski slopes that are meticulously groomed, this course presents a raw and unspoiled experience with its steep vertical drop of over 1,000 meters. Skiers and snowboarders must navigate the natural terrain, testing their skills on untouched powder and challenging descents.
As racers descend from the high alpine peaks to the lower elevation at Morteratsch (1,896 meters above sea level), they will encounter a mix of steep chutes, rolling bowls, and narrow couloirs that demand precision and control. This unique race not only challenges athletes physically but also immerses them in the awe-inspiring beauty of Switzerland's glacier landscapes.
