Cordwell Colossus

Cordwell Colossus, nestled along the fringes of North Derbyshire’s Peak District, offers runners an invigorating trail adventure through the Cordwell Valley. This 20-mile loop weaves through lush woodlands and scenic paths, with a brief detour into the neighbouring Linacre Valley for added variety.
The route features a mix of runnable trails and lanes alongside more challenging single-track sections that require careful navigation. While largely unmarked, key navigational points are clearly indicated to guide participants along their journey. To aid in planning your course, detailed route notes and GPX files are available online. Runners may also find it helpful to bring a paper map as an additional resource.
Registration takes place from 8:00 am to 8:45 am at Holmesfield Parish Hall (Dronfield S18 7WZ), where ample free parking is provided for participants. The race begins promptly at 9:00 am and concludes by 3:00 pm, with a time limit of six hours.
Throughout the course, you'll encounter two checkpoints offering water and food options to keep your energy levels up as you progress through this challenging yet rewarding terrain. CP1 is situated in Wigley after approximately 7.5 miles, while CP2 at The Peacock pub in Cutthorpe marks the halfway point around 13.5 miles.
Upon crossing the finish line, all participants will receive a medal to commemorate their achievement, with additional prizes awarded to the first male and female competitors in each race category. Light refreshments await you back at Holmesfield Parish Hall as you relax after completing this scenic trail run.
Medical support is available both on course and at the event headquarters should any runners require assistance during or following the race.
