About the Event

The Coogee Island Challenge Spring Edition Ocean Swim is set to captivate swimmers from across Sydney, offering an iconic open water experience at the picturesque Coogee Beach. This event marks the beginning of the summer swimming season and invites participants to embrace the thrill of ocean racing around Wedding Cake Island.
Swimmers of all ages and abilities can choose from a variety of distances tailored to their skill level:
- The 800m Junior Dash is designed specifically for younger swimmers, providing an exhilarating introduction to open water events.

- For those aged 13 and older, the new 800m Community Swim offers a more accessible way to experience the challenge without committing to longer distances. This event follows immediately after the Junior Dash on the same in-bay course.
- The 2km swim takes place within Coogee Bay for swimmers who are ready for an intermediate-level test of their endurance and technique.

- For those up for a true adventure, the 2.4km Island Challenge involves swimming around Wedding Cake Island, a route that is both legendary and breathtaking in its beauty.
Participants will be supported by trained lifeguards from Coogee Surf Life Saving Club throughout each race to ensure safety while they enjoy the stunning coastal scenery of Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. The event promises not only competitive racing but also an engaging atmosphere with fellow swimmers, making it a memorable start to summer swimming adventures.
