Community Traverse -Cleveland Hills 80KM

About the Event

The Cleveland Hills 80KM ultra is an exhilarating point-to-point challenge through the diverse landscapes of North Yorkshire’s moors. Starting at Ingleby Arncliffe and ending on the coast in Robin Hood's Bay, this race offers a unique blend of trail running and hiking across rolling ridgelines, expansive moorland, ancient woodlands, and exciting trails.
Participants will follow sections of Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast path but should not rely solely on way-markers for navigation. The route includes varied terrain such as forest tracks, uneven ground, and some short stretches of road, making it a challenging yet rewarding adventure for experienced runners and hikers alike.
Ahead of the event, participants will receive detailed information including a GPX file to help them prepare. Along the 80KM journey, there are three checkpoints that provide essential supplies such as water, food, medical support, and basic amenities. The overall cut-off time is set at 15 hours, with individual checkpoint deadlines provided in advance.
Safety is paramount; participants who fall behind these critical times may be withdrawn from the race to ensure their well-being. It’s crucial for runners to adhere strictly to the route and respect mandatory kit requirements that will be detailed prior to race day.
Live tracking devices are issued to all competitors, which must be returned after completion or upon withdrawal if necessary. Race control can assist with transport back to Ingleby Arncliffe from Robin Hood's Bay once participants finish their journey.
This ultra is officially registered with the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), allowing successful completers to earn ITRA endurance points towards their running achievements.
Community Traverse, the event organizer, prioritizes inclusivity and support throughout all races they host, ensuring a high standard of care for every runner’s experience. Free parking at the start location and bag drop service from beginning to end are among the amenities provided.
For those looking to secure their spot with peace of mind, XCover offers insurance options that can provide refunds in case unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance.
This event is not just a race but an immersive journey through some of Yorkshire's most stunning natural environments. Participants will be treated to breathtaking views and challenging terrain that test both body and spirit.
