Championnat du Monde de Joëlette 2027

On May 7, 2027, the Championnat du Monde de Joëlette takes place at Port des Barques, located just 15 kilometers from Rochefort and about an hour's drive from La Rochelle. This unique event features a scenic 11 km course that winds through Île Madame’s picturesque landscape, offering runners breathtaking views of the Charente estuary with its historic forts and islands like Aix and Oléron.
The route is designed for teams consisting of three to five participants, including one person using a Joëlette—a specialized wheelchair adapted for off-road terrain. Teams will navigate diverse terrains, crossing the Passe aux Bœufs at low tide, an unforgettable experience that showcases Île Madame’s charming fishing huts and coastal beauty.
The race starts and finishes in the heart of Port des Barques’ oyster farming area, celebrating the region's rich maritime heritage. To participate officially, all Joëlette machines must adhere to strict regulations: they should be single-wheeled models without energy assistance (as per Article 12 of the rules). Non-compliant equipment may still join but won’t qualify for rankings or awards.
Participants are reminded that license copies must be provided since automatic license verification isn't in place. The event promises a day filled with camaraderie, scenic beauty, and an evening dance party complete with dinner starting at 7:30 PM.
