Castle Alpine Trail Ultra

Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of Castle Mountain Resort for an unforgettable trail running experience on September 25, 2027. The CAT Ultra – Unlimited Distances invites runners to navigate through diverse terrain that includes wide-open vistas and challenging single-track trails, culminating in two mountain summits and a serene alpine valley. This year's event features the new Obscura series format, allowing participants to run as many stages as they wish within a 24-hour cutoff period.
The race begins at Castle Mountain Resort and loops clockwise for Leg 1 before switching directions counterclockwise for Leg 2 and finishing with another clockwise loop in Leg 3. Each stage starts and ends at the resort, eliminating the need for support crews since runners can park their gear and make quick transitions between legs.
Castle Mountain Resort offers a range of accommodations including private rooms, hostels, and bed-and-breakfast options, making it easy to extend your stay and explore the area's wildlife viewing opportunities. With fall approaching, expect variable weather conditions ranging from crisp autumn days to snowfall at higher elevations, so pack accordingly for both warmth and cool temperatures.
Experience the thrill of conquering Castle Mountain’s challenging terrain while enjoying breathtaking views and a unique race format designed to test your endurance in one of Alberta's most secluded gems.
