Caps Off Run Club 2026 5 Beer 5k

Join us for the quirky and challenging 5 Beer 5K on October 30, 2026! Kick off your evening with a potluck dinner starting at 6 PM, followed by an unconventional running race that starts promptly at 7 PM. Participants must consume five standard-sized (minimum 341ml) carbonated beverages of their choice before completing the out-and-back kilometer run for each drink.
The event is designed to test your endurance and balance as you alternate between drinking and running, with strict rules against using methods like shotgunning or torpedoing. While beer remains a popular option, feel free to bring seltzers, low-alcohol drinks, or even non-alcoholic carbonated beverages. Just make sure each drink meets the minimum size requirement.
To prove completion of your beverage for each kilometer segment, you'll need to turn your empty drinking vessel upside down over your head before starting your next run. If things get too much and you find yourself needing a break due to physical discomfort, be prepared: according to world championship rules, if you vomit during the race but not after crossing the finish line, you face disqualification or an additional penalty kilometer.
For those looking for a less daunting challenge, there's also a 2 Beer 5K category where participants consume just two drinks before completing four kilometers. This event promises to be both entertaining and memorable, with plenty of camaraderie among runners as everyone shares their unique strategies and experiences.
