Capitan Mountain 34 Hour

In the heart of New Mexico’s Lincoln National Forest, where history and nature converge, runners gather for the 2027 Capitan 34-Hour Endurance Run. This epic race celebrates not only ultra-distance running but also the legacy of Smokey Bear, who found his home here after a life-changing rescue in these very woods.
The event kicks off at 6:00 AM on April 16 and concludes at 4:00 PM the following day, offering participants three distinct challenges: the full 34-hour adventure aiming for either 100 miles or an impressive 80-mile mark. The soft, runnable 4-mile loops through scenic forest trails are perfect for both first-time ultra runners and seasoned veterans alike.
Central to this event is the spirit of community and support. Runners can enjoy a range of amenities including food trucks serving meals throughout the day and into the night, as well as access to camping facilities at the start/finish line on a first-come, first-served basis. Pacers are allowed from midnight until 6:00 AM for those seeking extra assistance.
