The BURT trail running event invites runners to embrace the rugged beauty of Bainbridge Island’s diverse and interconnected trails. Taking place on February 6, 2027, this unique race offers three challenging distances: 55 kilometers, 110 kilometers, and a grueling 100(ish) miles. Participants will navigate through some of the island's best public trail networks as well as private land access points, creating an ever-evolving course each year. This year, thanks to improvements by the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation, runners can now enjoy a boardwalk bridge through Lost Valley, eliminating the previous muddy terrain that was infamous for soaking participants. Despite this enhancement, expect unpredictable February weather and prepare for conditions ranging from rain-soaked trails to unexpected clear spells. The BURT is more than just a race; it’s an opportunity to connect with like-minded trail enthusiasts who share a passion for pushing their limits in nature's rawest form. The event fosters community spirit through shared experiences, camaraderie among runners, and support for the island’s trail networks. Every registration fee goes directly towards supporting the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation’s efforts to expand and maintain public trails. Join us on February 6, 2027, for a day of adventure, challenge, and celebration of nature's beauty as you immerse yourself in the BURT experience.
