Join us for the 17th Annual Brainerd Turkey Run on November 26, 2026, as we kick off Thanksgiving morning with an exciting run and walk event. The race starts and finishes at the historic Brainerd Armory, offering both a scenic 5k route and a leisurely 1-mile walk option for participants of all ages. Registration is open now through November 24th, with early bird discounts available until November 1st. Youth runners (ages 18 and under) can participate in the timed 5k race or the non-timed 1 mile walk at reduced rates. For adults, similar pricing applies for both distances, ensuring affordability for all families. The event features a virtual race option where participants receive their bib after completing the run on their own chosen route and time frame. All proceeds from the Brainerd Turkey Run will benefit Shriners Healthcare for Children Twin Cities, making your participation in this community-driven event even more meaningful. Packet pickup is available both Wednesday evening (November 25th) at the Armory between 5-7 pm or Thursday morning on race day starting at 7:00 am. Be sure to register by November 17th if you want a guaranteed shirt, with designs for this year's edition set to be revealed soon. The 5k route is described as industrial scenic and stroller-friendly, weaving through the local area around the Armory. A lead biker will guide runners along the course, ensuring safety and an enjoyable experience. Meanwhile, the non-timed one-mile walk follows a looped path nearby, with volunteers providing guidance throughout. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their best Thanksgiving costumes or holiday attire for added fun and spirit. Parking is available at the Armory lot as well as several local business lots that have generously allowed parking on race day. Please be mindful of posted signage regarding no-parking zones. Post-race festivities include complimentary cookies, water, bananas, and a photo backdrop near the finish line where you can capture your momentous achievement. Results will be available for viewing shortly after crossing the finish line via QR code scanning or by visiting the event website.
