On Thanksgiving morning, the St. Cloud Area Family YMCA hosts the El Jay Plumbing "Little Turkey's" 1K and CentraCare Wishbone Run 5K & 2 Mile walk, inviting runners of all ages to join a festive celebration on Stockinger Drive.
The event kicks off at 8am with the "Little Turkey's" race for young participants. This family-friendly run starts from SCHEELS on Stockinger Drive, offering a fun and safe environment for children aged five through twelve years old. After this initial wave of youthful energy, the main CentraCare Wishbone Run follows shortly after.
The 5K begins at 8:15am with waves starting in an organized fashion to ensure smooth flow from start to finish. The fastest runners take off first, followed by slower pace groups and walkers. This staggered approach helps alleviate congestion on the course while allowing participants ample space for a comfortable run or walk.
Participants can enjoy scenic views of St. Cloud as they navigate through this closed-to-traffic route along Stockinger Drive. Parking is available at the YMCA parking lot nearby, ensuring easy access to both races and providing convenient amenities before and after the event.
