BM MBO - Whittington 27

Experience the unique blend of mountain biking and orienteering at the Black Mountains MBO Whittington 26, set to take place on September 12, 2027. This event welcomes riders from all ages and skill levels who are comfortable navigating off-road terrain with an OS map in hand. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or bringing along young ones for a family adventure, the Black Mountains offer an ideal setting filled with challenging trails and scenic views.
Participants can choose between EBike and traditional MapRun courses, each designed to test your navigation skills while enjoying the rugged beauty of South Wales' Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), Black Mountains, Wye Valley, and Forest of Dean. If you don't own a map board, one is available for borrowing at registration.
After completing your course within a 3-hour time limit, head to the hall where hot drinks, warm sausage rolls, and cake await all competitors. Detailed event information will be sent out two weeks before the race date via email; sign up for updates on their mailing list by clicking HERE.
On the day of the event, you'll receive a fully marked waterproof OS map at registration to guide your journey through the checkpoints scattered across the course area. Use the MapRun app or compatible GPS watch to track your progress and submit results accurately. Remember to enter your PIN code only when ready to start as it initiates timing immediately.
Registration opens from 09:30am to 10:15am, with starts between 09:45am – 10:30am. For more information about Mountain Bike Orienteering and related events across the UK, visit www.bmbo.org.uk.
