BluMouLA-BuFuRa, hailed as the Prettiest Darn Race in America, invites runners and paddlers to challenge themselves against stunning natural beauty. The race offers three distinct courses: 14 miles through the picturesque Eckford Chain of Lakes, a challenging seven-mile loop around Blue Mountain Lake, and an intense 1.5 mile sprint circling one of the nearest islands.
The full 14-mile course begins with a scenic journey along Eagle Lake before crossing to Lake Utowana via a buoy turn in its tranquil waters. The route then retraces back through Eagle Lake and loops clockwise around Blue Mountain Lake, offering breathtaking views from every angle. The seven-miler is equally captivating, tracing the entire perimeter of Blue Mountain Lake under the watchful gaze of surrounding mountains.
The 1.5 mile race, while shorter, packs a punch with tight buoy turns that test competitors' agility and endurance. All courses are known for their pristine waters and open bays, often windswept by brisk lake breezes, making each turn an adventure in itself.
Entry fees vary based on age and registration time: $30 pre-registration (closing at noon on July 18, 2026) or $40 race day; children aged 11 and under pay $15 pre-registered or $25 race day. Non-paddling passengers of the same age are charged a flat rate of $10.
Start times for the longer races begin at 10:30 AM, with the shorter course kicking off just two minutes later to ensure smooth transitions and optimal racing conditions. Participants can expect an exhilarating challenge amidst some of America's most picturesque landscapes.
