The highlight of this week-long celebration is the Belalp Hexen race on Saturday, which has been drawing crowds for over four decades. Leading up to this main event, various races and activities take place throughout the week. Spectators are treated to enchanting evenings with Witches Nights and a festive day dedicated to children.
The origins of the Belalp Witch trace back to an ancient Valais legend about a witch who once roamed these slopes. Over 41 years ago, locals revived this tale by introducing the Belalp Hexen race, blending folklore with modern-day sports enthusiasm. Participants can look forward to racing down challenging terrain while immersed in a unique atmosphere that combines winter sport exhilaration and mystical charm.
