Beat the Ferry 50k & Studland 25k invites trail runners to explore some of Dorset's most breathtaking coastal landscapes. Set against the backdrop of the Purbecks, these races offer an unforgettable journey along iconic trails and landmarks.
The Beat the Ferry 50km race begins with a unique twist: one runner is designated as "the Ferry," starting at the very back of the pack. As the race unfolds, this runner moves steadily through the field, creating a thrilling challenge for all participants. The goal? To cross the finish line before the Ferry does.
The route takes runners along Studland Beach and past Old Harry Rocks, offering panoramic views of rugged cliffs and tranquil waters. Continuing on to Purbeck Way and Corfe Castle, competitors experience an array of terrain including woodland paths and open heathlands. The race concludes with a section of the South West Coast Path before returning to Knoll Beach.
For those opting for the Studland 25km distance, the course includes a turnaround at Corfe Village Hall life base, providing runners with stunning views of the castle ruins as they head back towards the finish line on Knoll Beach. Both races celebrate the beauty and diversity of Purbeck's natural environment while challenging athletes to push their limits.
