This epic race takes place in Lockport, New York, where runners face a course blanketed by several feet of pristine snow and sub-zero temperatures.
The event kicks off at Wide Water's Marina, offering participants access to essential facilities such as restrooms, showers, and warming shelters. The marina is also home to what many consider "the best aid stations in the sport," providing an array of amenities that will help you fuel up and stay warm throughout your run.
Runners begin their journey along a paved trail for about one mile before crossing over Lockport's historic draw bridge. From there, they continue on the towpath until reaching the middle aid station where runners can take advantage of warming facilities and refuel with hot cocoa, coffee, Coke, Mountain Dew, water, Heed, grilled cheese sandwiches, warm chicken noodle soup, pizza, pancakes, and donuts.
The course features a total distance of 100 miles, winding through picturesque landscapes covered in snow. Athletes will encounter breathtaking views as they navigate the trail, making their way to the turnaround point approximately six miles after passing the initial aid station. The return journey offers runners another chance to experience the beauty and challenge of this winter wonderland.
