Balor Multisport Race, held on April 17, 2027, invites endurance athletes to challenge themselves across the stunning landscapes of Dunfanaghy, County Donegal. This multi-discipline event combines running, cycling, and kayaking over a grueling yet rewarding course.
Participants will embark on an epic journey covering approximately 225 kilometers in total distance. The route winds through some of Ireland's most breathtaking scenery, including the eerie Poison Glen, towering Errigal Mountain, expansive Mulroy Bay, scenic Atlantic Drive, and historic Muckish Railway.
The race consists of six distinct stages spread across varied terrains: nearly 47 kilometers of running over rugged trails; approximately 167 kilometers of road cycling through picturesque coastal roads; and a flat-water kayaking segment spanning roughly 11 kilometers. The course is meticulously marked, ensuring clear navigation for competitors as they tackle the challenging landscape.
Solo racers will complete all six stages individually, while teams can strategically divide tasks among their members. Two-person teams must each cover any three of the six stages, and in a trio setting, every participant completes two sections.
Competitors are supported by dedicated crew members at designated transition areas along the course, providing essential assistance during stage changes. This collaborative aspect adds an extra layer of strategy to the race as athletes manage their energy levels alongside logistical support from teammates or friends.
