Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run

The Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run returns on October 2, 2027, to Loma Alta Park in Altadena, California. This iconic race, one of the original five 100-mile endurance runs in the United States since its inception in 1986, challenges runners with a grueling course through the San Gabriel Mountains. The revised loop route introduced in 2026 features steep climbs and rocky trails that traverse remote mountain terrain for approximately 100 miles.
Runners will encounter breathtaking scenery as they navigate from Clear Creek to Josephine Peak, Red Box, Newcomb, Shortcut, Chilao, Mt. Hillyer, and back through the same challenging sections before finishing at Loma Alta Park. The race is not just a test of physical endurance but also mental fortitude, with an elevation gain of about 20,000 feet over the course's demanding conditions.
The Angeles Crest 100K joins the event for its first time in 2027, starting at Loma Alta Park and covering approximately 61.6 miles with a total elevation climb of around 13,271 feet. Both races offer runners an opportunity to immerse themselves in the rugged beauty of the Angeles National Forest while pushing their limits.
Training runs and trail workdays are integral parts of preparing for this event, fostering camaraderie among participants as they give back to the trails that provide such a memorable race experience. Each finisher receives official recognition at the awards ceremony with unique buckles awarded based on completion times, celebrating every runner's achievement in overcoming one of North America’s most challenging ultra-marathons.
Registration for the 2027 AC100 lottery opens October 12, 2026, and includes a chance to secure your spot among approximately 210 available positions.
