Nestled along San Diego's breathtaking coastline, the La Jolla Half Marathon offers runners an unforgettable journey through one of California’s most scenic landscapes. The race begins at the historic Del Mar Fairgrounds and winds its way to the heart of Torrey Pines State Park, where participants face a challenging ascent before descending onto the rolling hills of the Torrey Pines mesa. As you approach La Jolla Shores, the course becomes more residential but no less picturesque, with runners enjoying views of charming homes and lush greenery. The race concludes at the iconic La Jolla Cove, providing a fitting finish to this coastal adventure. For those seeking a shorter yet equally scenic experience, the San Diego 10K starts atop the Torrey Pines mesa, offering a flat and fast route that circumvents the challenging climb of the half marathon course. This option is perfect for runners looking to enjoy the beauty without tackling the hills. Completing the lineup is the La Jolla Shores 5K, which begins at the same starting line as the half marathon but heads straight into the heart of La Jolla’s scenic shoreline neighborhoods. With a mostly downhill profile and stunning coastal views, this race offers an easy yet picturesque run for all participants. Whether you’re aiming to conquer the challenging terrain or simply enjoy the beauty of San Diego's coast, each distance provides unique highlights that make these races must-do events in any runner's calendar.
