About the Event

The 5th Yao City Marathon is based at the athletics stadium in Kyubo-ji Park, one of the four great green spaces of Osaka alongside Hattori Ryokuchi, Tsurumi Ryokuchi and Oizumi Ryokuchi. The park is about ten times the size of Koshien Stadium, with open lawns such as the Flower Plaza and Family Plaza as well as serious sports facilities.
The park is split into East, Central and North districts, and the bridges linking them are the toughest points of the course. In the North district the running path is laid with wood chips that go easy on the knees, forming a green tunnel to run through.
Distances are 5K, 10K, 21K and 30K, plus a parent-and-child relay marathon and races for pre-schoolers, lower and upper elementary pupils. The stadium has permanent changing rooms and spectator seating, so families can cheer from the stands. The organizers aim to promote health among all ages, from small children to veteran runners.
