Runners are invited to explore the historical and scenic routes of Yamagata Ida-ten Marathon on February 28, 2027. This event celebrates the legacy of Kinoshita Shizō through its full marathon course and offers a variety of shorter options for participants of all ages.
The main draw is the full marathon route, which winds through areas closely associated with Kinoshita's life and work. Alongside this historic journey, there are five distinct courses catering to different distances: half marathon, 10km, 5km (for high school students and above), a more relaxed 3km course for younger runners, and an even leisurely option.
Participants will enjoy the local specialties at aid stations along each route. Fresh strawberries from Yokojima and tomatoes are among the delicious treats available to replenish energy during the race. After crossing the finish line, visitors can indulge in Yamagata's famous ramen or relax in one of the area’s hot springs, perfect for soothing tired muscles.
The event is designed to be welcoming and enjoyable for everyone from seasoned runners to families with young children. With its rich history, stunning scenery, and warm community atmosphere, this marathon promises an unforgettable experience for all participants.
Registration fees are as follows: Full Marathon - ¥10,000; Half Marathon - ¥5,000; 10km - ¥4,000; 5km (High School Students and Above) - ¥4,000; 5km (Middle School Students) - ¥2,500; 3km (Elementary School Students) - ¥2,500; Leisure Course (High School Students and Above) - ¥3,500; Leisure Course (Under Middle School Age) - ¥2,500.
