On Thursday, November 26, 2026, the Fremont Family YMCA invites runners of all ages to participate in its Annual Turkey Trot. This year’s edition offers three distinct courses: a family-friendly one-mile walk, a two-mile run for those looking for an enjoyable jaunt around town, and a five-mile challenge for seasoned athletes eager to push their limits.
The event kicks off at 8:30 am with the start of the 5-mile race. This scenic route takes runners from Fremont Family YMCA (located on North Lincoln Avenue) eastward along 16th Avenue until reaching the JCAC, and then back towards the YMCA. The two-mile run follows shortly after at 8:35 am, while the one-mile walk begins simultaneously.
Participants in both the five-mile race and the two-mile run will benefit from chip timing by Run Nebraska, ensuring accurate results for all competitors. Medals are awarded to the top male and female finishers across various age categories: 10 & under, 11-13, 14-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Additionally, the top male and female finishers in the five-mile race will each receive a $100 prize.
A highlight of this year’s event is the costume contest for runners. The best-dressed participant will be awarded with a special gift card to a local business after the race. After crossing the finish line, all participants are invited inside the YMCA building where winners in each age category and overall awards will be announced.
Registration fees vary based on early bird discounts available until September 7th for both 2-mile runners ($41) and 5-mile competitors ($46). Regular registration runs through October 31st with prices increasing to $46 and $51 respectively. Late registrations from November 1st to the 22nd will still allow participants access to chip timing but without guaranteed t-shirts, costing $58 for the two-mile run and $63 for the five-mile race.
Race day registration is available at a higher rate: $63 for the 5-mile distance and $68 for the two miles. For those opting into the one-mile walk, early bird prices are set at $23 with no increase until late registrations on November 1st to 22nd also priced at $23. Race day registration is available but without a t-shirt guarantee.
Pre-race packet pick-up begins Tuesday, November 24th from noon till 8 pm or the morning of race day starting at 7 am for those who prefer convenience over planning ahead.
The event aims to raise funds and awareness for various community programs supported by the YMCA including youth sports initiatives, childcare services, senior wellness activities, and financial assistance. By participating in this meaningful run/walk, you’ll be contributing directly towards making these essential resources accessible to everyone within our community.
