2027 Essar Chester Half Marathon

Step into the heart of historic Chester for the Essar Chester Half Marathon on March 16, 2027. This renowned half marathon is one of the longest-running events in the UK and serves as the second leg of the prestigious Chester Triple Medal series. Runners will experience a flat course that winds through both the city's ancient streets and picturesque rural landscapes, all on closed roads for an uninterrupted race day.
Chester's rich history comes alive along this route, offering runners stunning views of medieval architecture and Roman ruins. The event not only celebrates athletic achievement but also supports charitable causes; participants can join forces with official charity Run for Alder Hey Children’s or dedicate their run to a personal cause.
For those seeking competition beyond the main race, the Chester Half Marathon is an England Athletics Age Group Masters Half Marathon Championship qualifier. All races are licensed by UK Athletics and adhere strictly to their rules. To participate in this event, runners must be at least 17 years old on race day.
Additionally, families can enjoy a Fun Run along Chester Racecourse, open to children with accompanying adults who also need to register for the event. This approximately one-mile course provides an engaging introduction to running and celebrates the spirit of community that defines the Chester Half Marathon experience.
Join fellow runners in what promises to be another unforgettable day filled with inspiration and camaraderie.
