2026 Borderland Tri-City · Secret Realm Changhuai Mountain Trail Race (2026“边关三城·秘境昌怀”山地越野赛)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the "Secret Realm of Changhuai: Border Passes and Mountains"越野 race has been rescheduled from September 6th to September 27th. The event takes place at Ruiyunguan Town's Hengling Village in Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province.
This inaugural edition welcomes runners with a range of distances designed for various levels of experience and endurance: the Fly General group (42KM), Three Passes Guards team race (30KM - three-person relay including at least one female participant), and Post Road Travelers' course (12KM). Participants can register on a first-come, first-served basis until all spots are filled.
The 42KM route offers an authentic "Great Loop of the Frontier," with runners traversing rugged terrain that includes over 2168 meters in elevation gain and loss. The race starts at 7:00 AM on September 27th, with a finish line cutoff time set for 7 PM.
The Three Passes Guards team event covers approximately 30KM, featuring an ascent of more than 1519 meters along with the same descent. This challenging relay begins promptly at 8 AM and concludes by 5 PM on the day.
For those seeking a less strenuous yet scenic experience, the Post Road Travelers' course is ideal, spanning just over 12KM with an elevation gain of around 453 meters. The race starts half an hour after the team event begins at 8:30 AM and concludes by 2:30 PM.
The route winds through three historic Ming Dynasty fortresses - Changyu Fort, Hengling Pass, and Zhenbian Castle – which have stood for over six centuries in the heart of the Yan Mountains. Each fortress offers a glimpse into China's rich military history as runners follow trails that connect these ancient structures with breathtaking views.
Participants will experience not only challenging terrain but also a unique cultural immersion, making this event more than just a race; it’s an adventure through time and nature. The organizers are offering special discounted rates for the inaugural year of registration to encourage participation in this historic and scenic challenge.
