About the event
Every participant receives an original towel and products from local sponsors, with one set per pair in the family pair marathon. Certain participating teams win surprise prizes, and each runner gets a bowl of pork miso soup made with local ingredients. The marathon-specific course is easy on the legs and works for children and adults. Ekiden teams run five legs of either 1.5km or 3km, across general, mixed, junior high and elementary classes.
Fees are 7,500 yen per team for the general and high school classes, 5,000 yen per team for the elementary and junior high classes and 1,000 yen per pair for the family pair marathon.
