Drakensberg Northern Trail 2027

The Drakensberg Northern Trail invites runners to explore the stunning northern region of South Africa's renowned Drakensberg Mountains. This trail running experience offers breathtaking vistas and challenging terrain that cater to both seasoned athletes and casual enthusiasts alike.
At the heart of the event is the 40km Mountain Challenge, a grueling yet rewarding route through rugged landscapes and high-altitude panoramas. The course winds across rocky paths and lush valleys, providing runners with an immersive adventure in nature. For those seeking shorter distances, options include a 20km trek that still captures the essence of the mountain scenery, as well as more accessible 10km and 6km routes for all levels.
Since its inception in 2015, the Drakensberg Northern Trail has become one of KZNTR’s premier events, celebrating endurance, exploration, and a deep connection to the mountains. Runners can expect an unforgettable journey through some of South Africa's most spectacular wilderness areas.
The event is set for March 6, 2027, promising another year of awe-inspiring landscapes and thrilling challenges in the Drakensberg Mountains.
