THE CHALLENGE RACE YAMAGUCHI 1 is a JAAF-certified event held at Yamaguchi Kirara Expo Memorial Park, on a flat, fast 2.5 km loop, with the start in front of the Large Lawn parking area. Events are the full marathon (11,000 yen), 30 km (7,700 yen), half marathon (7,700 yen), 10K (5,500 yen), 5K (3,300 yen) and 1 mile (3,300 yen), which uses a special course. Registration runs from 8:00, the opening ceremony is at 9:10, the main events start at 9:30 and the 1 mile at 9:33. Eleven pacer groups cover finish times from 2:40 to 4:20 for the full marathon. Time limits are 40 minutes for the 5K, 90 minutes for the 10K, 2:30 for the half, 3:12 for the 30 km and 4:30 for the full. Water and gel are offered at two points per lap, and runners line up five minutes before the start so they can warm up until then. Results and photos are provided free of charge on the day. The race is a designated event of the R.LEAGUE runner league, whose members get 10 percent off entry from their second start. There is no baggage storage; a baggage area stands beside registration. The venue is about 15 minutes by taxi from Shin-Yamaguchi Station.
