On October 18, 2026, the Club Maratón Vegas Altas, in collaboration with Don Benito's Sports Council, will host the XXV Half Marathon "Virgen de las Cruces" and IX 7K "La Velá, Tradición y Gastronomía." Both events start at Plaza de España in Don Benito and conclude back at this historic square. The races are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM with a two-and-a-half-hour cutoff time for participants. The Half Marathon route offers runners the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of Don Benito, weaving through picturesque streets lined with local landmarks and charming architecture. As athletes traverse the course, they will be treated to panoramic views that highlight the town's distinctive character. The 7K race is designed as a more accessible option for those looking to enjoy the atmosphere without committing to a longer distance. Both races are officially registered with the Extremeña Athletics Federation, ensuring high standards of organization and support throughout the event.
