XIII Podbieg na Makowicę

Experience the XIII Podbieg na Makowicę, an open training run set for October 3, 2026. This unique race offers runners the opportunity to explore the scenic and challenging terrain around Rytrz Castle.
The race starts at 10:00 AM from the parking lot under the castle in Rytrz, where participants will embark on a journey through an alpine landscape that is both picturesque and demanding. The route follows a trail between steep slopes of Makowica Hill (949 m above sea level) and the swift Poprad River.
As you progress along this 7.6 km course, you'll encounter various terrains including asphalt roads, leaf-covered paths, dirt trails, and muddy sections. The ascent to Makowica presents a significant challenge with its elevation gain of more than 300 meters from Rytrz village below.
The route includes crossing the bridge in Życzanów before descending into the valley of the Życzanowski Stream. Runners will then follow blue trail markers through a serene stretch leading to Głęboki Jar, where you can admire the deep ravine carved by the stream and enjoy views from a picturesque footbridge.
Upon reaching the summit of Makowica Hill (949 m n.p.m.), participants are greeted with stunning panoramic vistas. The current course record stands at 41:57 for Piotr Biernawski and 49:20 for Natalia Tomasiak, setting a high bar for competitive runners.
Top finishers in both the men's and women's categories will receive special awards to commemorate their achievement. After crossing the finish line, all participants are invited to enjoy an outdoor gathering by the fire with hot dogs and lively conversations about running and adventure.
