About the Event

Mark your calendars for one of Wyoming's most beloved running traditions—the 50th Annual Medicine Bow National Forest Run, set to take place on Sunday, May 30, 2027. This historic race offers four challenging distances: the full marathon, a grueling 50k event, a half-marathon, and a family-friendly 5k.
The race starts at dawn with participants setting off from the picturesque Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming. The course is an out-and-back route that winds through hilly terrain on mostly dirt and gravel roads, offering runners breathtaking views of the forest's natural beauty. For those tackling the half-marathon, this challenging stretch remains entirely unpaved throughout its length.
The full marathon and 50k routes are no less daunting, with 77% of their course also consisting of rough, undulating trails that test endurance and resilience. The race organizers keep the course open until 4:00 PM to accommodate all runners regardless of pace.
With a long-standing legacy dating back five decades, this event draws both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike who are eager to experience the unique blend of natural beauty and physical challenge offered by Medicine Bow National Forest. Participants should prepare for variable weather conditions that can range from cool mornings to warmer afternoons as they traverse through one of Wyoming's most scenic landscapes.
On race day, runners will be greeted with a vibrant atmosphere filled with enthusiastic supporters and fellow competitors celebrating the spirit of endurance running in this iconic setting. Whether you're aiming for personal bests or simply enjoying the camaraderie among participants, the Medicine Bow National Forest Run promises an unforgettable experience that honors both tradition and community.
Registration is now open for what will undoubtedly be a memorable edition of one of Wyoming's longest-running races.
