Join us on December 1, 2026, for the World AIDS Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K races at Rockaway Beach Playground. This unique race not only offers stunning ocean views along Jamaica Bay but also serves as a powerful event to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and support crucial charities in Kenya and locally. Participants will start their journey at 10 AM from the picturesque Rockaway Beach Playground on Beach Front Road, Far Rockaway, NY. The course winds through scenic routes that showcase both natural beauty and urban charm, providing runners with an unforgettable experience. All participants receive a commemorative dryfit t-shirt painted by a Kenyan artist, along with a matching medal. The race is more than just a run; it's a tribute to the countless lives affected by HIV/AIDS around the globe. The event honors Dr. Morton Berson, born in 1896, whose legacy of compassion and dedication continues through this annual marathon. By participating, runners contribute directly to vital causes such as medical care for Kenyan orphans and support services provided by local organizations like Harmony HealthCare Long Island, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Kamp Kiwanis, and others. In addition to the race itself, a delegation from the Richard M. Brodsky Foundation will travel to Kenya between December 5-15, organizing several impactful initiatives there. These include meet-and-greet dinners with live musical performances, feeding events for orphans, medical check-ups by Dr. Richard Sartori and local Kenyan healthcare professionals, and activities designed specifically for special needs children. For those traveling from Manhattan to participate in the race, taking the A train is recommended as it offers a scenic ride across Jamaica Bay on elevated tracks with beautiful water views along the way. The route passes near 95th Street Bandshell multiple times during the marathon and half-marathon events, creating opportunities for live entertainment and community engagement. This oceanfront event stands out as one of the few marathons in North America held specifically on World AIDS Day, making it a poignant reminder of the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS. Whether you're an avid runner or simply looking to support a good cause, this race offers both physical challenge and meaningful contribution. The World AIDS Marathon is more than just a run; it's a commitment to change and hope for those affected by HIV/AIDS worldwide. Join us in Far Rockaway on December 1, 2026, as we come together to make a difference through sport and community action.
