Welcome back for another year of racing at Suffolk Running Centre's Windmill Way Wander! This exclusive New Year’s event offers runners an array of distance options, ranging from the family-friendly 5k to the more challenging full marathon and ultra distances. The race kicks off at 9:00 AM sharp with a seven-hour cutoff time for all participants. The course features two distinct sections: Windmill Way and Golding Hills. Windmill Way is a scenic loop that spans over 21 kilometers, offering runners panoramic views of the countryside as they pass through charming villages such as Higham, Gazeley, Ashley, Dalham, and Denham. The route includes rolling hills with an elevation gain of approximately 600 feet, providing both challenge and reward for those who take part. Golding Hills is a shorter out-and-back section that extends to about 10 kilometers, featuring gentle climbs and picturesque views along the way. Participants in this event will enjoy aid stations every 10k where they can replenish with drinks and snacks. Parking at the venue is included as part of your entry fee. The race headquarters, also known as Base Camp, serves as a central hub for all runners, offering water and aid throughout the day. At the finish line, you’ll receive a bespoke medal designed specifically for this event. If you prefer variety, there's an option to choose from previous or finisher medals in a lucky dip selection. Please note that due to environmental concerns, no disposable cups will be provided at hydration stations; runners are encouraged to bring their own bottles and containers for refilling. Additionally, dogs and buggies are not permitted on the route to ensure safety. For those who can't make it to Bury St Edmunds in person but still want to participate, virtual entries are available through Zig Zag Running's website shop section. Join us at Suffolk Running Centre’s Windmill Way Wander for a day filled with scenic beauty and challenging terrain.
