Welcome to the 15th edition of the Wild Azalea Trail Challenge, set for January 2, 2027, at dawn. This legendary race takes place in the heart of Louisiana’s Kisatchie National Forest near Alexandria, offering runners and cyclists a unique blend of natural beauty and rugged terrain. The event spans across six different categories: the grueling 50-mile run starting early morning followed by various distances including a 27-mile run, a 27-mile bike ride, a half marathon (13.1 miles), and a shorter but no less challenging 10K race. Each participant will find their perfect match among these options. The trail itself is nothing short of spectacular, stretching over 26 continuous miles—the longest such course in Louisiana. The route winds through diverse ecosystems, from serene hardwood forests with lazy creeks to more elevated areas featuring majestic Longleaf Pines. This varied landscape ensures that every step and pedal offers a new perspective on the natural beauty surrounding you. Navigation is straightforward thanks to well-marked paths and visible half-mile markers along the way. With clear directions and minimal risk of getting lost, participants can focus entirely on their journey through this breathtaking terrain. The race day will be filled with camaraderie as runners and cyclists come together for a celebration of trail sports. After crossing the finish line—whether it’s after 14 hours or when supplies run low—you’ll join fellow competitors in enjoying traditional Louisiana cuisine like gumbo, jambalaya, and cold beer. Registration remains affordable compared to other events in the region; we’re committed to keeping costs down so everyone can enjoy this unforgettable experience. Each participant receives a commemorative Wild Azalea T-shirt upon completion of their chosen event, with options for additional merchandise available on-site.
