Whispering Pines

Whispering Pines City Park hosts an inviting and flexible endurance run on February 06, 2027, offering runners of all ages and abilities the chance to explore its scenic trails. This free yet socially vibrant event encourages donations that go towards park maintenance and insurance costs. Participants can enjoy a mix of single-track and double-track paths featuring packed sand and pine needles, with gentle hills providing both shade and elevation.
The 5-mile loop starts and finishes at the pavilion near Parking Lot B and Playground in Whispering Pines City Park. Runners are free to complete as many loops as they wish throughout the day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a flexible pace that suits everyone's needs. Each loop crosses two paved roads within the park, so participants should stay alert at crossings.
An aid station set up near the start/finish line offers standard trail food and drinks, while runners are encouraged to bring their own snacks or contribute to a communal potluck for fellow racers. Check-in begins at 6:15 AM until 4:00 PM, with finisher awards available to those who complete at least two loops (a total of 10 miles).
This event promises a laid-back atmosphere where runners can train for an ultra marathon or simply enjoy the day in nature surrounded by friends and family. With no overnight stays allowed within Whispering Pines Park, nearby accommodations include motels such as Central Motel and Holiday Inn Express, along with camping options at Holder Mine Campground and Mutual Mine Campground.
Whispering Pines 12-Hour Endurance Race invites you to experience a day on the trails your way.
