WHINLATTER FOREST TRAIL RUNS

The half marathon course spans a distance of 13.1 miles, featuring steep ascents and thrilling descents that wind through Whinlatter Forest’s lush trails. The route begins on the North Side and concludes at the South Side, rewarding participants with breathtaking views of Keswick, Skiddaw, and Derwentwater along the way.
For those seeking a slightly less daunting challenge, the 10K trail run covers an equally scenic 6.2 miles through Whinlatter’s diverse landscape. Both events are designed to cater to runners who thrive on challenging terrain and stunning natural surroundings.
Participants will start their journey at designated points within the forest, marked by detailed location references including Google Maps coordinates and What3Words addresses for easy navigation. The race concludes back in the heart of this picturesque woodland setting where finishers can look forward to a bespoke Finisher’s Medal, complimentary refreshments, and an opportunity to purchase official event merchandise.
The Whinlatter Trail Half Marathon & 10K is also Canicross-friendly, welcoming runners who enjoy bringing their dogs along for the adventure. Each participant may bring one controlled dog on a lead throughout the entire course, ensuring safety for both humans and animals alike.
Powered by Timing Up North, this event offers live chip timing to provide real-time results and accurate finish times, enhancing the competitive spirit of all participants. Additionally, runners can opt to add a custom event T-shirt for £14 as part of their entry package, celebrating their achievement in style.
To ensure accessibility for everyone, on-site parking is available at subsidised rates through Forestry England pay machines upon arrival.
