Welsh 3000 Challenge (14 Peaks)

The Welsh 3000 Challenge, an arduous yet breathtaking adventure through the heart of Snowdonia’s rugged terrain, invites runners and hikers alike for its next edition on July 24, 2027. This grueling route spans approximately 50 kilometers with a staggering elevation gain of nearly 4000 meters as participants navigate their way across all fourteen peaks officially recognized at over 3000 feet.
The challenge is renowned for its iconic sections, such as the knife-edge ridge traverse of Crib Goch and the exhilarating scramble up Tryfan. Each peak offers unique vistas and challenges that test both physical endurance and mental fortitude. Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), standing at 1085 meters, marks a significant milestone in this continuous journey.
Participants can choose between two pace options: a guided run covering the route with steady jogs on easier sections or a more leisurely walk aimed at completing all peaks within 20 hours. Both routes are supported by experienced mountain leaders who provide navigation guidance and safety measures throughout the challenging terrain.
The event includes refueling stops, food and drink provisions in three key locations, and a robust support team to ensure the wellbeing of every participant. This comprehensive approach aims to make this demanding journey achievable for those with a solid fitness base and previous hill walking experience.
Join us on July 24th for an unforgettable day or weekend immersed in Snowdonia’s majestic landscapes, where each step taken is rewarded by panoramic views that capture the essence of Welsh wilderness at its finest.
