Virginia Trail Running Festival

Immerse yourself in the fall foliage of Virginia during the Run Bum Races' 2027 Virginia Trail Running Festival, featuring distances from a challenging 100-mile trek to more manageable 50k and 25k options. This festival takes place along the New River Trail, a scenic 57-mile path that winds alongside the expansive river known for its dramatic rapids and waterfalls. The trail is lined with vibrant orange and yellow leaves at peak fall colors, providing runners with an unforgettable backdrop as they navigate over historic train trestles spanning hundreds of feet.
The course itself offers minimal elevation changes—mostly flat or a gentle 1% grade—making it ideal for those seeking personal bests or their first ultra distance. Aid stations are positioned approximately every 5 to 8 miles, ensuring runners have ample support throughout the race day. The event is designed with crew access in mind, allowing friends and family to provide essential assistance.
Participants can anticipate a festive atmosphere at the finish line, complete with local food and drinks, fostering an environment of camaraderie among competitors. All finishers will receive awards and pint glasses, adding to the celebratory mood post-race. For those interested in volunteering, there's an opportunity to earn credits towards future Run Bum Races.
Registration for this event must be completed by September 1st, with all race details available on the RunBumTours.com website.
