About the Event

Welcome back to the second edition of the Viking Trail, set against the backdrop of Årsunda IP. This year's race continues where last year’s successful pilot left off, offering runners an unforgettable adventure through history and nature. The trail begins at Årsunda IP and winds its way up to Hornberget before descending towards the picturesque vikingagården Årsjö gård for a finish line steeped in ancient lore.
The course features three main distances: 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers. Each route offers runners stunning views of Sweden’s lush forests and rolling hills, with varying degrees of elevation providing both challenging climbs and smooth descents through tall pine groves. The shorter options cater to those seeking a taste of the Viking spirit without committing to an entire marathon distance.
For younger participants, there is also a 1 km fun run designed for children under 18 years old who are members of ÅIF (Årsunda Idförening). This event encourages family participation and allows young runners to experience the thrill of racing in a historic setting. A bus shuttle service will be available at the finish line, transporting participants back to the start area.
The Viking Trail promises not only physical challenges but also an immersive cultural journey through Sweden's rich history. Whether you are drawn by the allure of ancient Nordic traditions or simply enjoy running amidst breathtaking natural beauty, this event offers a unique blend of sport and heritage that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
