Victoria Mile

The Victoria Mile offers a unique opportunity to lead the 126th Thrifty Foods Victoria Day Parade on Monday, May 18, 2026. This festive event, organized by the Greater Victoria Festivals Society and Choice Events, invites participants to run or walk a one-mile course through the heart of downtown Victoria just before the parade begins. The event serves a significant community purpose by partnering with Parkinson Wellness Projects (PWP) as the primary charity of choice, aiming to raise CA$100,000 to support local wellness initiatives.

The race follows a historic route starting at the west driveway of the Legislature, winding through iconic streets including Government, Wharf, and Johnson, and concluding at Chatham Street. While the mile is a timed event, the atmosphere is celebratory and inclusive, welcoming participants using wheelchairs and strollers. The primary objective is for all participants to cross the finish line within 30 minutes to clear the way for the following parade.

Logistics and Participant Information:

• -- Course Path: The route begins at the Legislature, moves onto Government Street, loops through Wharf and Johnson, and finishes at the intersection of Government and Chatham.
• -- Timing and Results: A race clock will be visible at the finish line. While the event is not chip-timed, manual timing will be recorded, and official results will be hosted on the Prairie Inn Harriers website.
• -- Bib Collection: Participants can pick up their race numbers between 7:30 AM and 8:15 AM at the start line (Belleville and Menzies). Members of PWP have the option to collect their bibs at the PWP gym during the week of May 11th.
• -- Recognition: Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers immediately upon the conclusion of the race.
• -- Charity Support: 100% of pledges raised during the event are directed to Parkinson Wellness Projects, and attendees are encouraged to contribute through the online registration portal.
• -- Post-Race Refreshments: Water and snacks will be distributed to all participants as they cross the finish line at the parade's head.
