39th Annual 2026 Harriers Elk/Beaver Ultras

The 39th Annual Harriers Elk/Beaver Ultras is a premier endurance event hosted by the Prairie Inn Harriers Running Club in Victoria, British Columbia. Scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, the race is renowned for its fast, flat, and accurately measured 10-kilometer trail circuit. Because the course is certified and offers splits every 10 kilometers, it serves as a top-tier qualifier for prestigious 100-mile ultramarathons across North America.

The event is designed around a 10 km loop circling Elk and Beaver Lakes. Participants select their distance based on the number of laps completed, with an adjusted extension provided for the 50-mile finishers.

For the 2026 edition, the start, finish, and lap venue has moved to the Hamsterly Beach site at the north end of Elk Lake. This alternate location is accessible via Brookleigh Road, near the Sayward intersection of the Patricia Bay Highway. While the start/finish has moved, the race continues to use the same well-known 10 km loop trails. The terrain is exceptionally flat trail, providing ideal conditions for setting personal records. In early May, Victoria typically experiences cool maritime weather with average highs of 15°C and lows of 7°C. The venue at Hamsterly Beach includes paved parking, washroom facilities, and grassy areas for personal aid stations, though participants should note that there is limited permanent shelter available.

The standard registration fee is CA$82.59, which includes the base $75 entry and Race Roster processing fees. However, participants can opt to pay the $75 fee directly via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to the Prairie Inn Harriers to receive a promo code that bypasses online service charges. Current members of the Prairie Inn Harriers are eligible for a $10 discount on their entry. Those who are not yet members can join during the registration process for $25 to access these savings and benefits for future club events.

The race provides professional organization with a central aid table and several pop-up tents. Runners are encouraged to utilize the surrounding grassy fields to set up their own personalized support zones for the duration of the multi-lap event. Accurate timing is provided, and the 50-mile short extension is specifically timed to allow for 10 km intermediate splits throughout the race.
