For those new to ultramarathoning, the Vero Beach Octopus Ultra provides several entry points: runners can test their mettle with just one octo-arm (16.86 miles) as part of the "Ultra Teaser," or tackle two arms combined into a mini-ultra distance (29.4 miles). The full challenge lies in completing all eight loops within 32 hours, earning you the prestigious Octopus Buckle. The race, set to start at 6:00 AM on July 10, 2027, offers runners an immersive experience with stunning natural beauty and challenging elements. South Florida’s summer heat adds a layer of difficulty that requires careful planning and preparation. With loose cutoff times but strict safety measures in place, the race organizers reserve the right to pull participants for health reasons at any time. Crew support is highly recommended due to long stretches without water access and extreme weather conditions. Vero Beach is a city in and the county seat of Indian River County, Florida, United States. According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 16,354. Nicknamed "The Hibiscus City", Vero is situated about 85 miles (137 km) southeast of Orlando along the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean on Florida's Treasure Coast.
