Get ready for the most unique running experience of the year during the Fête de la Patate in Matemale. Organized by L'Association Les Pieds sur Terre, this event celebrates local agriculture and brings communities together with a twist.
Participants will tackle an unconventional 7-kilometer course around the charming village. The challenge: run carrying a 4-kg sack of potatoes on your back throughout the race. This quirky requirement adds both fun and difficulty to the route, transforming every step into an adventure.
The atmosphere is guaranteed to be festive with a costume contest centered around creative potato-themed outfits. Prizes will go to the three most imaginative costumes, encouraging participants to let their creativity shine in this whimsical setting.
For those up for an extra challenge, there's a special bonus event during the market climb. The first runner to grab a 20-kg sack of potatoes at a designated point wins it—and must carry it across the finish line along with their original load!
All participants will receive a unique and secret medal upon crossing the finish line, celebrating both perseverance and community spirit.
Children's races are also available within the village. Young runners can participate in shorter distances with parents accompanying them for support. On-site registration at 3:00 PM is free of charge for kids starting their race at 3:30 PM.
