On January 25, 2027, the historic Parque Ibirapuera in São Paulo will host the official opening ceremony for the city's 473rd anniversary celebrations. The event features both competitive and participatory races that cater to a diverse range of runners and walkers. The main attraction is the 10 km race, which begins at 7:00 AM from the iconic Obelisco in Parque Ibirapuera. This course offers elite athletes the opportunity to showcase their speed on an officially measured route, with male competitors aiming for a sub-31-minute time and female runners targeting under 36 minutes. For those who prefer shorter distances or are looking for a more leisurely experience, there's also a 6.1 km race and a walk event of the same distance. Both start at 7:00 AM immediately after the elite race begins at 6:50 AM with the special PcD (Persons with Disabilities) category. Participants can enjoy pre-race warm-up activities from 6:45 AM, followed by an engaging ceremony and live entertainment throughout the day. The event concludes around midday with a prize-giving ceremony starting at 8:15 AM. The park's central area near the Obelisco will feature various amenities including hydration stations along the course and at the finish line, as well as medical support for all participants. Additionally, there are information centers, complimentary baggage storage, chemical toilets, and areas designated for kit pickup and drop-off. This event promises a festive atmosphere with vibrant crowds celebrating São Paulo's rich heritage while enjoying the scenic beauty of Parque Ibirapuera.
