The Tri-Base Triple Nickel Triathlon offers a unique challenge for authorized military personnel on November 8, 2026, at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. This exclusive event features a compact yet intense triathlon format with a 500-meter swim in the St. Johns River, followed by a 5-mile bike ride through Antenna Farm and Perimeter Road, and concluding with a 3.1-mile run along the east side of NAS Jacksonville. Participants will start their day early at Manatee Point with transition area access from 6:00 AM to 7:45 AM, allowing ample time for setup before the race begins promptly after colors at 8:00 AM. Athletes can expect a well-organized event schedule featuring separate waves based on gender and team categories. The swim in the St. Johns River provides a refreshing start, while the bike course takes competitors through scenic areas with varied terrain that test endurance and skill. The running portion offers a flat yet fast route along the base perimeter, providing participants with an opportunity to showcase their speed as they race towards the finish line. Registration is available until November 6th for military personnel at $60 or individual civilians at $70; teams of three can register either through military channels ($120) or civilian groups ($130). Race day registration will not be accepted, ensuring a smooth and well-prepared event. Participants who complete the race receive a commemorative swim cap, t-shirt, and finisher coin. Race awards are presented to first-, second-, and third-place overall male and female competitors as well as active-duty military males and females in individual categories. Team awards will also be given out for top-performing teams. The pre-race meeting is mandatory at the swim start area at 7:45 AM, ensuring all athletes understand race rules and procedures. Transition management includes a designated transition zone with ample bike racks and separate slots for each participant. Bikes must pass safety inspections upon entry into the transition area to ensure compliance with racing regulations. No outside storage of bikes is allowed before the event, emphasizing the importance of arriving prepared on time. This non-USAT sanctioned race encourages athletes to use wetsuits based on their discretion due to water conditions and personal preference for swimming comfort. All bicycles are welcome but must adhere strictly to safety guidelines during inspection times. The Tri-Base Triple Nickel Triathlon promises an engaging experience with a focus on camaraderie among military members, challenging course features, and scenic views of NAS Jacksonville's surroundings.
