Event Logistics & Participant Information:

Age Requirement: Minimum 21 years old during the 2026 calendar year.
Licensing: Mandatory FEDME license or Regional Mountain Federation license covering mountain races in Picos de Europa for 2026.
Qualifying Experience (2024-2025): Must meet ONE of the following — an ultra minimum 55 km with 3,500m D+, a Traveserina finish in under 8 hours 30 minutes, or completion of Travesera, Desafío Cainejo, Ultra GTP, Ultra Desafío Somiedo, Maxi Trail Kangas Mountain, or Ultra Valle de Quirós.
Required Documents: Medical certificate, signed acceptance document, and federation license must be submitted scanned before May 10, 2026.
Registration Process: Pre-registration required. Final registration formalization takes place during the Runner's Fair.
Bib & Document Collection: Friday, June 12, from 16:00 to 21:00 at the Runner's Fair tent in the Arenas de Cabrales finish area. Bring National ID (or passport/driving license) and Mountain Federation License.
Transport: Buses depart from Arenas de Cabrales at 00:00 to the start line in Covadonga.
Race Start: Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 02:00.
Certification: Race is homologated by ITRA (International Trail Running Association) and FEMPA. Qualifying race for UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc).
Course Environment: High mountain limestone terrain. Technical, physically and mentally demanding with sustained elevation gain exceeding 2,000 meters.

About Covadonga

Covadonga is one of 11 parishes in Cangas de Onís, a municipality within the province and autonomous community of Asturias, in Northwestern Spain. It is in the Picos de Europa mountains. With a permanent population of 55, the parish became a site of pilgrimage and a place of great cultural importance following the 722 Battle of Covadonga, which marked the beginning of the Spanish Reconquista of the Iberian Peninsula. The battle, which took place near the village in 722, was the first Christian victory in the Iberian Peninsula over the Arabs invading from north Africa under the Umayyad banner, and is often considered to be the beginning of the almost eight-century-long effort to expel Muslim rulers governing Iberia during the Reconquista.
