Organized by Métallo Sport Chantenay Nantes Athlétisme, the Trail Urbain Nantais will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2026. This special edition marks the 100th anniversary of Chantenay's pedestrian races and features a variety of surprises along its circuit to celebrate this milestone. Participants in both events can expect an enhanced experience with added twists that challenge runners while maintaining accessibility for all skill levels. For instance, the Tour de Chantenay will include an additional small loop around Gutenberg/Oblates sector, extending slightly from previous years' routes but designed to keep the pace manageable and enjoyable throughout. The Trail Urbain Nantais, however, is geared towards more seasoned athletes with a distance of 18.9 kilometers over two circuits through the city. This route includes an exciting climb up Ste Anne Butte followed by descents down Rue de l'Hermitage before ascending it again—a thrilling test for those who enjoy both climbing and descending. The Tour de Chantenay, open to athletes from cadette to masters categories, covers a distance of 9.6 kilometers with its start at 9:30 AM near the Mairie de Nantes Chantenay on Rue de La Marseillaise. The Trail Urbain Nantais begins an hour and fifteen minutes later for juniors through masters athletes. Both events feature time constraints to ensure fair competition; notably, participants in the longer trail must complete their first 10 kilometers within one hour and ten minutes or face disqualification. The race day atmosphere is vibrant with challenges such as the Métallo Challenge on Tour de Chantenay where teams of two women and two men compete for top honors. Additionally, there's a Credit Mutuel challenge rewarding the fastest climbers during Ste Anne Butte’s ascent. Competitors can use lockers near the Mairie to store personal items before and after their races. However, it is important to note that the organizing club declines all responsibility in case of theft or loss of deposited objects at these facilities. The race day will also feature an extra treat for participants: a detour through Jardin Extraordinaire, adding scenic beauty along with unique urban terrain challenges. This edition promises not only competitive racing but also memorable moments and picturesque views that celebrate the rich history of Chantenay races. Bâtons are strictly prohibited in both events to ensure fair play and safety for all participants.
