Trail Proms Last Dance

Salt City Trail Racing invites you to the second edition of their 2025 race series with the unique and festive "Trail Prom" event. Set for May 8, 2027, this year's iteration offers both a traditional team competition dubbed "Senior Prom," covering between 8 to 20 miles, as well as an exciting new option called "Junior Prom," which spans from 4 to 10 miles. The race unfolds in the scenic Highland Forest County Park and Onondaga County Parks, where runners will navigate through beautiful forested trails.
The format is a thrilling elimination-style tournament for two-person teams or solo participants who are paired up on race day. Each round consists of either a 4-mile course repeated twice (8 miles total) for Senior Prom, or once (4 miles total) for Junior Prom; similarly, the second and third rounds involve running three-mile courses in sequence with an optional reverse run for added challenge.
After each completed round, teams are given approximately ten minutes to rest while results are tallied. The top-performing teams advance through a series of increasingly challenging distances until only the fastest remain at the end. Amidst this competitive spirit, runners will enjoy aid stations stocked with trail snacks and an energetic post-race cookout complete with games and music.
Join fellow racers for an unforgettable day celebrating camaraderie and competition in one of Central New York’s most picturesque settings.
This event offers awards to the top three teams at each distance level, plus a special prize: the winning team gets to keep a commemorative cup and choose their post-race meal from a menu featuring both vegan and non-vegan options. Whether you're running with friends or meeting new teammates on race day, Trail Prom promises an immersive and joyous experience.
