Trail de la Côte de Lumière

The Trail of the Coast of Light invites runners and walkers alike to explore the dynamic coastline of Vendée on February 27, 2027. Nestled along the Atlantic coast near Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, this race offers a unique blend of forest tracks, sandy stretches, and coastal paths through a Natura 2000-protected area.
Participants can choose between three distances: a challenging 24 km trail with 400 mD+ elevation gain, a scenic 16 km course featuring 200 mD+, or an easier 8 km route with 100 mD+. The terrain is varied and demanding; runners will encounter soft sand that turns every flat section into a challenging climb.
The event also includes a nighttime "Luna Trail" over 12 kilometers, followed by the next day's 16-kilometer trail to form a combined 28 km challenge called the “Challenge de la Côte de Lumière.” The race is organized by Pays de Saint Gilles Vendée Athlétisme under FFA guidelines and caters to all fitness levels with options for Nordic walking, family events, and children's races.
In line with environmental conservation efforts, participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups and bins will be available at the start, finish, and aid stations. A full refreshment station awaits everyone along the route.
Post-race recovery is a treat in this coastal region known for its fresh seafood like oysters and sardines. The nearby Puy du Fou theme park offers historical shows just an hour away by car. For those seeking more relaxation, Les Sables-d'Olonne's charming lanes or a boat ride through the Marais poitevin await.
