TOUR DE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CYCLOSPORTIVE - X, XL, XXL
About the Event
Tour de Northamptonshire Cyclosportive X, XL, and XXL invites cyclists of all abilities to explore the stunning landscapes of central England. This picturesque ride offers three challenging routes through charming villages and rolling countryside: Tour of the Villages (30 miles), Reservoirs & Aerodromes (40 miles), and a longer adventure, Reservoirs & Aerodromes XXL (60 miles). Starting at Naseby Village Hall just outside Northampton, participants will experience a mix of gentle descents and challenging climbs. The Tour of the Villages route begins with a long descent past Cottesbrooke Hall before ascending into Brixworth. Cyclists then weave through quaint villages like Walgrave, Broughton, and Thorpe Malsor, finishing near Kelmarsh Hall. The Reservoirs & Aerodromes XL route adds more scenic reservoir crossings to the mix. After a short descent out of Naseby, riders climb up to Cold Ashby before descending towards Hollowell and Ravensthorpe Reservoirs. The picturesque Sywell village comes into view as cyclists approach Pitsford Reservoir causeway, with stunning views from every vantage point. For those seeking an extra challenge, the XXL route extends further afield through Yelvertoft and West Haddon before looping back to Hollowell and Ravensthorpe. This longer journey offers more reservoir crossings and picturesque villages like Orlingbury and Braybrooke along the River Jordan, with the final push home passing Kelmarsh Hall. All routes feature well-stocked feed stations at Great Cransley Village Hall for water, tea, coffee, homemade cakes, and snacks. The XL and XXL routes also benefit from an additional stop at Sywell Village Hall. Mechanical and medical support are available throughout the ride to ensure a safe journey. Registration opens early on race day inside Naseby Village Hall with numbers distributed for both helmets and bikes. A rolling start ensures smooth departures, with groups of around 15 riders setting off every five minutes from 08:00 AM onwards. Participants must adhere to age limits (minimum ages are 14 years old for the 30-mile route and 16 years old for longer distances) and safety guidelines. Free parking is available at Naseby Village Hall, and toilets will be accessible throughout the day. All finishers receive a medal commemorating their achievement after crossing the line by the event's cut-off time of 2:30 PM. Whether you're looking to explore new terrain or push your limits in a supportive environment, Tour de Northamptonshire Cyclosportive offers an unforgettable cycling experience amidst picturesque English landscapes.
