Nestled near Northampton in the heart of Salcey Forest (Wootton Rd, Northampton NN7 2HX), this event offers an ideal setting for those seeking to experience the magic of ancient woodland. With towering trees and tranquil wildlife, the forest provides a serene backdrop for runners and cyclists.
For newcomers to duathlon or seasoned athletes looking for a fast and scenic challenge, Salcey Forest presents a unique opportunity to test your skills on well-maintained trails that wind through dense forests and open sections alike. The terrain is perfect for off-road running, offering a mix of undulating paths with gentle slopes and flat stretches.
The Sprint Duathlon features a 5km run followed by an 18km cycle and concludes with another 2.5km run. For those seeking more distance, the Standard Duathlon offers a longer haul: a 10km initial run, then a grueling 32km bike ride, capped off with a final 5km jog to cross the finish line.
Trail Run participants can choose between an invigorating 5km or a more substantial 10km route. Both options provide runners with runnable trails and offer stunning views of Salcey Forest’s natural beauty.
The transition area is designed for ease and security, allowing athletes to rack their bikes in designated spots that match their race numbers. A small bag or box can be left inside the secure transition zone while you compete.
Start times will be confirmed closer to the event date on Sunday, 25th October, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.
Live chip-timing guarantees accurate results available online shortly after each race concludes. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants receive an event medal and wild deer-branded merchandise. Additionally, refreshments such as drinks and snacks will be provided for everyone who completes their chosen distance.
Parking is recommended at Salcey Forest with normal charges applying; car-sharing options are encouraged to minimize environmental impact and maximize social interaction among athletes before the race begins.
